AIDS Walk Philly is the Delaware Valley’s largest annual HIV/AIDS public awareness and fundraising event. Each year, thousands of people join with celebrities, community leaders, friends and neighbors in a walk-a-thon and 5K Run to make a lasting statement about our commitment to conquering HIV/AIDS.
Each participant is asked to raise funds by soliciting sponsors – your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers. You can register as an individual or you can participate as part of a team. Either way, you’ll be raising money from your sponsors that will go to fight HIV/AIDS in the Delaware Valley. AIDS Walk Philly begins and ends at Eakins Oval, in front of the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The 12 kilometer (8.4 mile) route goes up Kelly Drive and back down Martin Luther King Drive AIDS Walk Philly begins and ends at Eakins Oval, in front of the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Running our course is the ultimate sweep through American history, from revolutionary times to the vibrant present day. From Betsy Ross's house and the Liberty Bell, through gorgeous 19th century Fairmount Park, to the hip districts of University City and Manayunk, the engrossing and beautiful landmarks along the way add a unique flavor to the experience.
We're among the top ten in the country, recognized for our not-too-difficult terrain, mellow weather and great atmosphere. Digital splits are provided at the 10K, 13.1 mile and 30K marks. Fluid stations are set up throughout the length of the course—as are spectator overlooks. And you'd better get ready for the crowds. Each year, spectators line the course, eager to cheer on runners, because there's nothing we love more in this town than a champion.
